Fanfiction

The fanfiction section is now available. It's something I was meannig to put up a long time ago but never got around to it. It's basically a collection of fanfic from Fanfic and the Freespace Story Archive. I will be allowing new submissions shortly. Stay tuned!

I have added the following content in the last couple of hours: All of the latest 3.6.12 patches, all of the latest 3.6.12 Media VPs, TopAce's 'Rogues!' campaign, Spoons 'Wings of Dawn', Axem's 'Vassago's Dirge' and I have completely polished up the Gallery section. Next I'll re-up the fanfiction.

Keeping the boat afloat

It occured to me lately that F2S could use a bit of a reshuffle. Granted, the site is pretty much going to stay in an 'archive' state but that doesn't mean I will let it die completely. If you have any suggestions for additional content here at F2S, please forward them on via the forums or e-mail.

Freespace 2 Sector is the oldest remaining Freespace related website still active on the Internet. Launched in early 2000, F2S has been providing a reliable hosting service for community projects, modifications and other tidbits since the beginning of Freespace modding. Despite becoming very inactive in recent years F2S' purpose has not been forgotten and we will continue to provide the largest known archive of Freespace 2 mods on the Internet until, well, until the world ends? Help us stay updated by sending in your missions, campaigns, mods and FS2 creations. Large submissions are accepted, however the upload page is currently limited to 50-60mb. For larger files, please consider e-mailing them or going to FreespaceMods. All submissions must be connected to Freespace 2 and it must be your own work or that of a team you are involved with. Since this site is almost entirely run by one person, we cannot update very frequently.

Gallery Update

I have (at last) updated the Gallery page - The old script has been removed and I've replaced it with a much simpler system. I am also currently in the progress of adding new images to the gallery, thanks to the HLP forums. If you'd like to contribute to the gallery, simply click 'Submit' or 'Upload New' and it will be approved soon.

Misreporting Virus

I recently ran through a security check on all files at F2S, and discovered what appeared to be a virus in the 'FS Music' packs and some of the tools. But it turns out it's NOT actually a virus, and is just being detected as malicious for some reason. My guess is some line of code somewhere in these old executables dating back from 10 years ago have some errors that are appearing malicious. But fear not, there are no viruses in there... Only thing is, how do I clean the files? AVG keeps deleting them. -_-
