Welcome to the somewhat updated Freespace 2 Sector. The reason I say somewhat is because there isn't that much (yet) that's different about the site, other than the fact that it looks completely different and has more functionality. I've added a series of scripts that will allow people to upload files by themselves into a better-organised category based database. You can also find a gallery which has complete freedom for anyone to upload stuff relating to Freespace 2. Essentially it's an Imageshack for the community - All submissions will ofcourse be checked before approval, the same applies to files. Feel free to submit any mods, models, missions, campaigns, music - anything you can think of, be it finished or still a work in progress - But not full CD or DVD size projects please! It must be connected to Freespace 2 and it must be your own work or that of a team you are involved with. Since this site is almost entirely run by myself, I don't have the budget for huge projects.

I have added the Babylon 5 Project back into the download database, with mirrors for all the latest files except for the definitive 3.4 release - Which I will add later. Head over to "Total Conversions" to get your copy. Yes, that also means the Babylon Project has officially wrapped. Head over to th e HLP forums for all your TBP needs.

Community Outage

At the time of posting, Hard Light Productions has been down for about 12-20 hours. As they are hosted on the same server, Game-Warden is also down along with all hosted project websites - It also appears the SCP site is having problems. I'm not sure if that's also on the same server. So that leaves us and Hades-Combine to provide your Freespace fix. While lazing around, be sure to add some files to our database or post some pictues! Just check the menu. Also stop by the forums if you need a place to unwind.

To celebrate seven years of Freespace 2 Sector, I've decided to finally update the site. Currently, there isn't much new stuff but I am now allowing submissions again so that should change. Also things will be kept updated around here now so there isn't much chance of the site dying out yet. This is the fourth version of the site, and it's also the first major update to the site in almost three years - It's been a while alright! But I decided, instead of letting the site die a painful death, it's better to revive it again one last time. You might notice the layout of the new F2S is somewhat similar to another website, a chocolate cookie to the person who gets it's right first. For now, let's poke around and make sure everything works before I type anymore here. Happy browsing and get uploading your stuff (assuming it's not already there)!

HTL Additions

I've added several HTL models created by Vasudan Admiral & Co. You can find them in the "New Designs" section under HTL Models. I've also updated the descriptions and fixed the database error which caused them to be cut short after the first sentence. If you see any other errors, let me know.

It seems porting the database over somehow erased half of the descriptions for each file. I'll have to manually go through them (killer..) and restore the original descriptions, until then expect the sentences to be cut off!

Filesharing and Imageshacking

As part of the upgrade to the latest version of F2S, I've added an automated gallery system that will allow members to post screenshots, renders, drawings - whatever you feel like - so long as it's Freespace. You can also hotlink these images. Right now it's experimental, so please don't abuse the system. Images must be no larger than 1.5mb & 1600x1200 resolution.

As for the download database, I've moved things around a little bit to different sections. I've also deleted many modifications and files that seem obsolete with the release of the SCP, but I have kept a great deal of original stuff from the early days of F2S. Like the gallery section, everyone is welcome to submit their stuff here - finished or otherwise, you'll see the instructions on the upload page. Unlike the gallery, you CANNOT hotlink files but instead must point people to the download page itself. Be sure to check over the FAQ within the download database if you have any questions.
